Terms of Service & Policies

By accessing or using SavingJars ("the Service," "we," "us," or "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to all of these Terms, do not use the Service.

These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access or use the Service. We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

SavingJars is a personal finance management platform that helps individuals and families track income, manage budgets, categorize transactions, and visualize financial progress. The Service is offered in three subscription tiers:

All new accounts receive a 30-day free trial of the StewardAI tier. No credit card is required to start. At the end of the trial, your account will revert to the Free tier unless you select a paid plan.

Account Registration. You must provide accurate, current, and complete information when creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.

Subscriptions. Paid subscriptions are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis. Your subscription automatically renews unless you cancel before the next billing date.

Cancellation. You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. We do not provide refunds for partial billing periods.

Price Changes. We reserve the right to change subscription prices with at least 30 days' notice. Price changes take effect at your next renewal date.

Gift Access. Pro and StewardAI subscribers may create "gifted" accounts for other individuals. Gifted accounts are subject to these same Terms. The account holder who created the gifted access is responsible for ensuring the gifted user complies with these Terms. Gifted access may be revoked by the account holder or by SavingJars at any time.

The StewardAI tier includes access to AI-powered features powered by third-party large language model (LLM) APIs. To ensure fair access for all users and to manage operational costs, the following monthly usage limits apply per account:

How limits work. Usage limits reset on your subscription billing date each month. If you reach a limit, the affected feature will be unavailable until your next reset. No overage charges apply — we will never charge you for exceeding a limit.

Trial period. The 30-day free trial includes the full StewardAI tier limits listed above. Trial usage does not carry forward to a paid subscription.

AI accuracy disclaimer. AI-generated content including categorizations, narratives, recommendations, and chat responses is provided for informational purposes only. SavingJars does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or fitness of any AI-generated output. You are solely responsible for reviewing and verifying all financial decisions. Nothing produced by the AI features constitutes financial, tax, legal, or investment advice.

Third-party AI providers. AI features are powered by third-party API services. While we take care to protect your data, transaction information sent to AI features may be processed by these third-party providers in accordance with their own privacy policies. We do not share your personally identifiable information with AI providers beyond what is necessary to generate a response.

Limit adjustments. We reserve the right to adjust AI usage limits at any time with at least 14 days' notice to affected users. If limits are reduced below what was originally purchased, affected users will receive a pro-rated credit or the option to cancel without penalty.

Your data. You retain full ownership of all financial data you enter into SavingJars. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal or financial data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

Data storage. Your data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption at rest and in transit. We use Supabase as our database provider. You can export all of your data at any time from the Settings page.

Data retention. If you cancel your account, your data is retained for 30 days to allow for reactivation. After 30 days, your data is permanently deleted. If you request immediate deletion, we will process it within 7 business days.

No bank connections. SavingJars does not connect to or store your bank login credentials. Transaction data is imported via CSV files you upload manually. We never have access to your bank accounts.

Cookies. We use only essential session cookies required for authentication. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Violate any applicable laws or regulations
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the Service or its related systems
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
• Use automated scripts or bots to interact with the Service in a manner that places excessive load on our infrastructure
• Deliberately circumvent AI usage limits through automated or programmatic means
• Share account credentials with individuals not covered under Gift Access
• Upload data belonging to other individuals without their consent
• Use the AI Chat Assistant to request financial, legal, tax, or investment advice and treat the response as professional counsel

Violation of these terms may result in suspension or termination of your account without refund.

No financial advice. SavingJars is a budgeting and tracking tool. Nothing within the Service — including AI-generated content, reports, charts, or recommendations — constitutes financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Always consult a qualified professional for decisions about your finances.

Service availability. We strive for high availability but do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of security vulnerabilities. We are not liable for any loss of data or financial harm arising from downtime or data loss.

Limitation of liability. To the maximum extent permitted by law, SavingJars's total liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

"As is" basis. The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from the Settings page.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at our sole discretion if we determine that you have violated these Terms, engaged in fraudulent activity, or for any other reason with reasonable notice. In cases of serious violations, we may terminate without notice.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Sections covering disclaimers, limitation of liability, and data retention survive termination.

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our Service, legal requirements, or business practices. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by displaying a prominent notice within the application at least 14 days before the changes take effect.

Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the changes, you must stop using the Service and may cancel your subscription before the changes take effect.
